Are there any Johoreans who don't know Port of Call by now??
JB used to be known as a "Cultural Desert", dubbed so as there was a lack of cultural and artistic influence in the city. However, things have taken a 360 degree change over the last 2 - 3 years, thanks to a group of young dreamers who dare work their ambitions and innovate to help turn over a new leaf for the city! Besides the annual JB Arts Festival that has been held in recent years, the next biggest outdoor event in JB has to be the "Port of Call"!
"Port of Call" is an event organised by Little Red Cube, an outdoor event combining music, art and bazaar together held monthly on the weekend for two consecutive days at the Little Red Cube @ Puteri Harbour, between 11am to 10pm. It is an absolutely smashing event suitable for family, friends and couples to spend an exciting weekend together, especially since entrance is free! Port of Call invites more than hundreds of vendors to participate in the fashion and handicraft bazaar, music and art performances, fast food mobile vans, delicious food stalls and many more! Some exciting events for the day also include a flash mob, outdoor Zumba, musical performances etcetera, all prepared by the dedicated organisers who also design the events thematically according to the respective month.
Fashion Show (August)

Mid-Autumn Festival (September)

This month, the organisers have specially prepared programmes related to traditional Chinese culture: traditional Chinese folk dance, Chinese Festival Drums, Chinese Yoyo, Wushu performance, and more. What was unique about this September's Port of Call is the Lantern Festival parade where participants held their lanterns and solve puzzles or quizzes, all while admiring the scenic view of the harbour itself! To complete the special night, there were special performances by Malaysian Rock Band - Mad August, and Fresco harmonica ensemble.

Halloween (October)

Halloween in JB this year was different as Port of Call gathered zombies and monsters for an exciting night as they haunt down JB streets for their next victim of scare! In bright daylight however, there are clowns twisting balloons into funny shapes and face painting activities for the public to immerse themselves in the Halloween mood!

After reading the numerous attractive reviews of the event, are you secretly itching to be part of this big family? Consider joining the ever creative team to promote art and culture in JB? If you're interested in participating in Port of Call, why not give yourself a chance to showcase your talent/product and meet like-minded new friends? Whether you're a painter, antique collector, handmade soap maker, busker, ,juggler or generally want to be part of the fun, you're all very welcome to sign up for the event!
